Tree City USA

What is Tree City USA?

The Tree City USA program has been greening up cities and towns across America since 1976. It is a nationwide movement that provides the framework necessary for communities to manage and expand their public trees.

More than 3,400 communities have made the commitment to becoming a Tree City USA. Bluffdale City has been one of those communities since 2005.

We have achieved Tree City USA status by meeting four core standards of sound urban forestry management: maintaining a tree board or department, having a community tree ordinance, spending at least $2 per capita on urban forestry and celebrating Arbor Day.

Arbor Day Celebration - April 28, 2023

The City Council passed a proclamation announcing April 28, 2023, as Arbor Day in Bluffdale.

The City Parks Department invited Mrs. Ogden and Mrs. White and their 4th grade classes from Bluffdale Elementary to participate in an Arbor Day celebration on Friday, April 26, 2019 at City Hall. There were 3 stations the students rotated through to learn about tree history, tree biology and fun tree facts and trivia. Shane, Dave, Larry, Ty, Dustin and Ryker led each station with fun information. There were pine cones, acorns, tree bark, stumps and cut tree trunk pieces to show tree rings for the students to inspect hands on. Then the group gathered in the City park to plant a beautiful kwanzan tree. This tree has clusters of pink flowers and dark green leaves and will grow to be 30-40 feet tall. Everyone that participated learned fun new tree facts. We all look forward to watching this tree grow and help to beautify our City park and community.
